Description

Widely regarded as a classic punk rock album, The Day The Country Died is the first album by the Subhumans. The album was recorded in five days in June 1982 and originally released in January 1983 on Spiderleg Records. It was later released on Bluurg, the band's own record label. Released when the Cold War was in full swing, the album is awash with Orwellian references, dystopian imagery, and sociopolitical commentary. Musically, the band delivers the roaring, jagged guitars and pummeling bass lines that made them forerunners of the British anarcho-punk movement.
