“The adventure inspired a lot of new songs with some ideas that were seedlings and came to rest living in and around the film. It sits somewhere between a documentary with magical realism and myth in a modern Cousteau way; while still being a surf film at heart. The athletes are all top of their game. And it was a huge honor to be amongst them. Roark had asked me to come be involved on trips before, but never would I have thought that they would ask me to make and have a huge roll like this.
