The acclaimed Can live series continues with the release of Live in Keele 1977, available via Mute and Future Days. Includes a booklet with exclusive in-depth sleeve notes by Jennifer Lucy Allan.
The audio for the series has been uncovered and pieced together from recordings within the Can vaults and those sent in by helpful fans, and then brought into the 21st century by founding member Irmin Schmidt and producer / engineer René Tinner who have compiled and edited all the albums in this series. This record captures the band's 1977 performance in Keele, England, and features Schmidt (keyboard & synths), Jaki Liebezeit (drums), Michael Karoli (guitars), Holger Czukay (wave receiver & spec. sounds), and Rosko Gee (bass).
Can's unprecedented and bold marriage of hypnotic grooves and avant-garde instrumental textures has made them one of the most important and innovative bands of all time, and these albums reveal a totally different perspective of the group.
Live in Keele follows the release of Live in Aston 1977 ["It's undoubtedly music for mind expansion, but it stretches the brain in ways that remain unique"- The Quietus Reissue of the Week]
